Jon Van Winkle is an Art Director and Graphic Artist living in Winnipeg. Jon has enjoyed opportunities to work on a diverse repertoire of local and international projects. His graphic work can be seen in more than 40 films and television shows, including the Dreamworks drama, A Dog's Purpose and the new sci-fi Amazon series Tales From The Loop.
Jon combines his extensive experience as a graphic artist with a love of developing concept renderings, look-books and palettes to build the visual world of a film. His educational background in Fine Arts, Art History, and Masters’ level Digital Production profoundly informs his work both conceptually and technically.
While Jon has focussed primarily on film and television production, he also enjoys using his skills in visual effects and compositing for post-production, including his VFX work on Diaspora. Jon's obsession with problem-solving sees him regularly experimenting with new systems to improve Art Department workflows.
Shifting to Art Direction has given Jon a newfound enthusiasm for exploring the interaction of character and setting to create a rich visual experience for the audience.
Working with Deco Dawson and Eagle Vision's creative team on Diaspora, merging his technical and artistic skills to influence the look of the film is a dream come true and Jon is thrilled about what lays ahead.
